Music for Everyone’s parent and child classes offer musical activities that are playful, interactive and educational. Using songs, storybooks, puppets, games, percussion instruments and folk dances, early childhood music teacher Jana Vitols disguises music education in a costume of play.  She shares her enthusiasm for music, accompanying classes on violin, banjo and guitar.

Children engage in imaginative musical activities, develop rhythmic, melodic and improvisational skills and are introduced to musical concepts such as pitch, meter, tempo, and dynamics. Music for Everyone classes are a joyful way for children to grasp the primary concepts inherent in music while discovering their own unique musical expression.

Jana Vitols is an early childhood music educator whose decade of teaching experience draws upon her musical palette of classical, folk, world and improvisational music and movement traditions.  Jana’s work as an educator has included teaching infants to five year olds at Hilltop Children’s Center, The Stroum Jewish Community Center, Familyworks and The Seattle Emergency Housing Shelter. She also performs with her kids band Your Imaginary Friend at toddler and children’s birthday parties in private homes throughout Seattle.

Jana received her BA in Dance Movement Therapy from The Naropa University and is strongly influenced by her training in Dalcroze Eurhythmics, a teaching approach that aligns music with movement.  As a perennial student her curiosity has led her to explore the ukulele, accordion, and xylophone, as well as dance styles such as clogging, Latvian folk dance and improvisational techniques

Jana is the founder and director of Music for Everyone, an independent music teaching program that supports families learning music together.

"Jana is a master teacher with vast musical knowledge. Her skillfulness guiding children is remarkable."
